Loyal To Love:My End-Dependence Day Poem

 Yesterday was my personal
End-Dependence Day...
The end of me giving my power away....
The day I decided my self-worthiness
I will no longer betray

Yesterday I took a Big Bold stand....
Covering my heart with
my right hand....
I vowed to no longer
depend on other's,
especially a man
To satisfy my emotional needs
the way only God can

So with my dignity and integrity
in tacked,
to the universe I made new command....
The respect I've always deserved
from other's
I no longer ask for,
I now demand

Yesterday, I conferred with my
inner Goddess,
and we unanimously agree....
I will no longer dim my light
for the sake of someone
 else's insecurity....
To compensate for another person's
emotional immaturity....
Nor out of fear and worry about
other's opinions, judgments,
and rejection or acceptance of me....
Because none of these things
serve my well-being or honor
my authenticity

Yesterday I forgave every person
who has ever caused me hurt,
or treated me unlovingly....
And today, I woke up with a deep
sense of peace,
feeling whole, complete
and totally free....

Now with my heart restored
to its natural state of purity....
I make this pledge of allegiance,
to that which matters most to me....
A vow of commitment and loyalty

I hereby vow to be loyal
to myself through sickness and health....
Poverty and wealth

Loyal to the divine agenda
 and song of my soul....
The part of me that lives eternally,
and never grows old

Loyal to the desires of my heart
that I've been dreaming of....
Loyal to God....Loyal to Love

Sunday's Food For Thought:An Honest Heart Produces Honest Actions

"May integrity and honesty protect me, for I put my hope in you." ~ Psalm 25:21 (NLT)

Honesty is not always the easy road to take. Nevertheless, it is always the high road to take. Yet, unfortunately, and far too often, it is also the road less traveled. Still, when fused with decorum, diplomacy, and compassion, honesty can be a most beautiful and attractive quality.

It displays integrity, maturity, and strength of character. And although it's sometimes hard to express and even harder to receive...honesty demands respect. You may not always like hearing the honesty that's being shared with you. But it's much easier to both like and respect a person that is always being honest and forthcoming with you.

This doesn't apply to people who go around using other's  as their "emotional dumpsters". You know the type....people who use any opportunity or excuse to spew their emotional toxic, negative energy, and dysfunction on another for the sheer purpose of making you feel badly about yourself in order for them to feel better about their self. And they do it all in the name of..."tough love" or "just being brutally honest".

That kind of honesty is just a cover up...a disguise...an excuse for a person who really is just being malicious, mean-spirited, ugly, and unloving. Truth is, in cases like this, it has more to do with them and not you. I speak from experience of having people like this in my life as family members, former co-workers, and even ex-relationship partners.

It used to hurt me very deeply. And it has taken me a long time to over come that hurt and finally realize that people who use moments of vulnerability between you to spew off their personal attacks towards you, with deliberate intent to hurt you, are really emotionally damaged, insecure people who are crying out for love. So try not to take it personally. It really has nothing to do with you. As hard as it is often times to do, those kind of people you have to just pray for, forgive, and walk away.

In fact, I don't even like the terms, "tough love" and "brutally honest" or think those words even go together. There is nothing "tough" about love nor does there have to be anything "brutal" about honesty. I say this because genuine honesty comes from a heart that has pure intentions and is filled with care, compassion, and consideration of the other people's feelings.

This kind of honesty is done with a purpose of healing the emotional wounds, closing the gaps of separation, or disconnect between the two of you.  It is done with the intent of promoting love through clarity which dissolves any misunderstandings, and effective communication for the purpose of promoting peace and positive energy between all parties involved. Key word here is effective communication. This means listening for understaning rather than arguing your point in effort to prove that you're right and the other person is wrong.

This kind of honesty becomes Truth with a capitol T which comes from the Infinite Intelligence and Wisdom of Divine Mind. Rather than the honesty that comes from the aforementioned person who is just being mean-spirited. That's truth with a lower case t. Because it comes from the human intellectual mind and is motivated by the ego-self, which promotes further separation in the relationship instead of love.

The honesty and love I'm referring to here doesn't necessarily mean romantic love or romantic relationships. This applies to all forms of relationship and the love I'm referring to here is divine love that abides in us all when we connect with our Source.

Let me say that again in a more simpler way. No matter what the circumstances are around the situation or how long the situation has existed, the person who surrenders the situation to God first and prays for guidance of their words before attempting to communicate or express their honesty and truth, will always be led in spirit exactly what to say and how to say it in the most loving and compassionate way. No need for being "brutal". No need for so called, "tough love", and most importantly, no need to avoid addressing the matter for fear of confrontation.

Whenever you take any situation to Spirit (God) first before expressing your truth you will always have an harmonious outcome. Because even if the other person has not done their inner spiritual work and you have, you alone in the matter being aligned first with God is more power than millions who are not. This means everyone else involved in the matter will have to either rise up to your higher consciousness and heart vibration frequency of peace, love, harmony and understanding. Or the universe will support you through the law of attraction removing them from your life. It can only go one of those two ways. Period.

So never be afraid to be honest. Because honesty that comes from a heart with pure intentions and that is first aligned with ones Source-self, is a heart that is filled with compassion, respect, and consideration of other's feelings. This kind of honesty builds relationships rather than destroy them.

This kind of honesty exudes strength of character on your part rather the other person's responds kindly to your honest expression of truth or not. This kind of honesty builds trust. It also cultivates and creates a safe space for true intimacy. This kind of honesty is one of the highest attributes of love. Because without honesty the seeds of love cannot blossom...and the life of the relationship simply cannot last.

Lastly, if you don't take away anything else from this article remember this. An Honest Heart Produces Honest Actions.

Until next time....Remember to keep your hearts open...and your LOVE lights on!

Sunday's Food For Thought:True Love Is Friendship On Fire

Most people are looking for or say they desire to be married to someone who is also their best friend. Well I actually have several people in my personal circle who have found and are married to someone with whom they share that kind of connection. And what I have come to learn from each of them, and my own life experiences too, is that you have to first become that which you desire to have.

In simpler terms, each of those married couples, in my family and friends circle, who also share the true love of their best friend, had to first learn to be a best friend to themselves before the universe attracted them into each others lives to become the best friend, lover, spouse and life partner to each other.

So while you're praying for...and waiting for...your true love to show up in the form of a best friend and marry you, practice the art of being a best friend to yourself first. Which means loving yourself enough to nurture and care for the needs of your own heart the way you're expecting and looking forward to your true love and life partner to do when they arrive.

LOVE:Keep It Simple Like Children

Have you ever noticed how simple love is for children verses how complicated we make love as adults?

If you have children between the ages of 2 and 5 years old, pay attention to how they love. If you don't have children then sit back and observe your little niece or nephew that's within this age group. Or better still, think back to your own childhood between kindergarten and 2nd grade. Remember how open your heart was when you were that age?

Before their hearts are tainted and they learn, from the adults in their environment, to judge and have fear, the heart of a child is so honest, innocent, genuine, and pure. They say exactly what's in their hearts and on their minds unedited with no fear or over thinking it. They never send you mixed messages or confusing signals. They are very clear about where they stand on the matter...they either like you...or they don't.

If they don't like you they simply don't play with you. No unnecessary drama required. On the other hand, if they do really like you there's no hesitation, no second guessing, no holding back, and definitely no leaving you guessing or trying to figure it out. They're going to make it very clear through both, their actions and their words how fond of you they really are as the teachings of the Holy Scriptures says we are to do in 1 John 3:18.

They are also very good at knowing how to live in the moment. Unlike us adults who spend an excessive amount of time obsessing over all the various possible unwanted outcomes. And holding back from giving our all to opportunities, to love and be loved, that show up in our present because of negative experiences that happened in our past. Or we're stressing ourselves out worrying about a future we cannot control.

Children however, have no reference point of the past. Whatever happened at breakfast they've already gotten over and forgotten about by lunch...until we teach them to do otherwise. They also have no concern about or concept of a thing called, "tomorrow".

My 4 year old daughter is my living example of this truth. She lives completely in the now. She wakes up every day happy, excited, ready to give her all, and fully absorbing every good thing each day can bring. She remains consistently true to whatever she's feeling at the moment. And as a result of living like this her dominant vibration and mood is sheer happiness, pure bliss, and a sense of joy that just seems to bubble up from the depths of her soul. As if that wasn't enough to make you envious of her, the cherry on top is that she goes to sleep every night in total peace.

So when it comes to love, children have the same approach to it that they do to every thing else in life....they keep it simple. For example, remember when we were in elementary school and someone liked you or you like them. You would simply send a note to them or they you saying...

Dear (person of interest),

I like you. Do you like me too? Check Yes or No in the box below.

(your name here)

Simple. Straight to the point. End of discussion.

With this in mind, I think it would behoove us all to adopt the attitude and approach to love seen in children. We should more often tap into the child-like quality within us that children so effortlessly posses and express. If there's someone in your life you have a genuine interest in, really like, and enjoy being in their company, don't sit back secretly crushing on them letting time and opportunity slip pass you out of fear. Or even worse, because of a disappointing or painful relationship experience in your past.

Life is too precious and short to waste time being afraid because of your past or worrying about what may or may not happen in the future. The only thing that matters or that's real are the opportunities, blessings and miracles the universe is attracting to you now. Life is about living fully and taking chances. So on that same train of thought, don't waste time playing silly mind games either.

If you're both single and available stop playing hard. Let them know how you feel. You just might be pleasantly surprised to learn they've been secretly checking you out and admires you too. If they don't then stay positive and trust that the universe already has someone better suited for you on the way who does share a mutual affinity with you.

Either way, let us remember the lesson the little children have come to teach us, that we are created from love....we are creators of love...we are born to love. Love is our true essence. The nature of our core being. And when we deny ourselves any opportunity, big or small, to express love...be loved...or think and behave in ways that resonate with the pure vibration of love, we feel the discord of being out of sync and alignment with our true nature, that is love through our unnecessary suffering and pain.

When it comes to love it would serve us all well to follow the example of little children and just....Keep Love Simple.

Until next time....remember to keep your heart open and your LOVE LIGHT on.

Love Light Spot Light:Celebrating Pioneer Poets in Black History

If you've been following my daily Inspirational Love Notes messages, here on my blog or on my Facebook page, you are well aware by now that February is my favorite month of the year for several reason. The main two reasons being it is my birthday month and the month Love. However, another reason, in addition to those two very good reasons for me to be excited about this month, is that February is also Black History Month.

So, as a poet who is passionate about inspiring others through my gift or creative writing, with hopes to some day be among the great names in the Academy of American Poets who have made a highly influential mark upon the world through their poetry and other body or works. I found it appropriate to celebrate black history month by honoring some of the most influential poets in black history every Sunday throughout the month of February.

With that said, the first pioneer poet in black history I'd like to shine my Love Light Spot Light on is the late, great, Langston Hughes. Born, James Mercer Langston Hughes on February 1, 1902, in Joplin, Missouri, he is famously known to the world as Langston Hughes, which is his mother's maiden name and his father's last name. He was raised by his maternal grandmother, following the divorce of his parents, until the age of thirteen. He then moved to Lincoln, Illinois to live with his mother and her new husband where he also first began writing poetry.

Langston Hughes' most notable contribution to black history is his influence, through his poetry, as a leader of the Harlem Renaissance, a movement during the 1920's known at the time as the New Negro Movement.  Primarily influenced by other great American poets as, Walt Whitman, Paul Lawrence Dunbar, and Carl Sandburg, Langston Hughes was also well known for his unique style of creative expression that conveyed his insightful and colorful portrayal of black life in America during the Harlem Renaissance period. He is also noted as being one of the inventors of a unique style of poetry called, Jazz Poetry.

On May 22, 1967, Langston Hughes died, in New York City, due to complication from prostate cancer. In honor of his memory, his residence on East 127th Street in Harlem, New York has been given landmark status by the New York City Preservation Commission. Additionally, East 127th Street has been renamed, "Langston Hughes Place", by the city of New York.

During my research I found that most of his poems were short yet profound. I also noticed that he wrote several poems on the topic of not giving up on your dreams. If you're interested in learning more about Langston Hughes or reading some of his poems you can visit the websites I've listed at the end of this article. In the mean, I'd like to close with one of my favorites by him on the topic of dreams.

Dreams
By Langston Hughes

Hold fast to dreams
For if dreams die
Life is a broken-winged bird
That cannot fly.
Hold fast to dreams
For when dreams go
Life is a barren field
Frozen with snow.

Something to Tuck Under Your Pillow: Caribbean Island Getaway

If you had the kind of day I had today you're probably wishing you could be transported away to some beautiful Caribbean island of your choice. Well, with the power of imagination, you can!!! So visualize this with me for a moment if you will.

See yourself right now on the most beautiful Caribbean island of your choice that you've already visited. Or one that you have always desired to go visit some day.

On your part of the island there are no children, or screaming, fussy babies to tend to. No bosses to answer or report to. No unpleasant or difficult co-workers to put up with. No ringing phones to answer. No spouses or mates to cook dinner for or fulfill a "Honey Do List".

Nope....none of that!!! On your imaginary island there's just you on a white sand beach. See yourself taking in the beauty of the clear sea green ocean, with your favorite drink in your hand served to you by a handsome cabana boy (or girl for you men) with one of those little umbrella's in it.
As you sip on it slowly, the smell of the ocean water tickles your nose in the wind. Then you close your eyes and give a silent yet heartfelt prayer of gratitude to God for this moment of peaceful....quiet... serenity now.

Now...hold that vision as you drift off to sleep. And until you can get to that island in your reality, know that everything is gonna be alright.

In the meantime, please accept my vibrations of Love sent with this message. Along with a virtual hug from me to you. And I'll accept the same back from you through your vibrations of Love and prayers as well.

Until next time....I surround you in Love & Light! So sleep well and have a peaceful night!
