I often wonder why people find honor in stubbornness and pride,
instead of honoring what they’re truly feelin’ inside. Why is cryin’ looked down on like you’re doing something wrong. And who’s the fool that started the myth that for a man to cry means he ain’t strong.
Well I say…brother if you're in pain it would behoove you to cry very hard and long. ‘Cause be it woman or man what people don’t seem to understand... Is that cryin’ is like takin’ your soul to the dry cleaners.
See there’s a huge misperception that being in tune with your feelings only applies to the meek... And just because women aren't afraid to be vulnerable, doesn't mean we’re emotionally weak.
Now pull up a chair and listen closely while I tell you what I know. When the trials and tribulations of life are high, yet your endurance is kinda low… It takes a lot of spiritual strength and wisdom to give it to God and let it go.
See holdin’ on to negative emotions blocks your blessings and the opportunity to grow. So if you’re lookin’ for a peace that passes all human understanding… Just open your heart and let the poison flow. ‘Cause cryin’ is like takin’ your soul to the dry cleaners.

February has always been my favorite month of the year. One reason is because it's my birthday month. But a much bigger reason is because it's the month of Love. This year I have something new to add to those wonderful reasons to for February being my favorite month.
Ten years ago on this day February 10, 2003, I had a "Date with Destiny" and met a handsome Prince with whom I had shared a kindred spirit connection and friendship unlike any other I've ever experienced before. At that very moment I knew something very special and divine had just occured in my life because I felt and heard it clearly from my inner voice of Spirit/Wisdom that Never lies or leads me wrong.
Three months later we went on our first offical date to a Floetry Concert and that was the night I fell deeply in love with this amazing man that inspired me creatively and reminded me of a beautiful reflection of myself expressed in the form of mascline energy.
Fast forward to today, February 10,2013 after a 7 year unexpected seperated due to unforseen circumstances then being, unexpectedly once again divinely guided back into my life. We were happily reunited, our love and original kindred spirit connection was reignited and through all the trials and tribulations we had to face and overcome we're still here...still standing...still in love with each other and our beautiful most cherished blessing, our 8 month old baby girl.
So in celebration and honor of that fate-filled day our ten year anniversary of our Divine meeting of each other, we return to our genesis in spiritual fellowship through the church service at our place of worship, Hillside Chapel & Truth Center. And to our surprise yet again, as only Spirit (God) would have it, the topic of today's message in this mornings service was, "Surviving Love". After everything we've been through we can certainly say we are survivors of love. Yet, what stood out to me most from our church's guest speaker, Bishop Carlton Pearson, that gave today's lesson in spiritual living, was quote he shared on true love that I'd also like to share with you. It read, "Love is giving someone the ability to destroy you emotionally and trusting them not to." How profoundly true that statement is.
So in light of that and in honor of the very special day of celebrating the ten year anniversary of meeting my "True Love". I dedicate this song by, the greatest balladeer of our generation, Luther Vandross and this Inspirational Love Note, to the one who inspired me to love again with my whole heart from the day we met and continues to do so some ten years later today. Carlton (a.k.a Mello Melanin), thank you for being my muse. In short, you are my polarity...a beautiful divine reflection of the divinity in me...the masculine expression of my feminine energy that balances me and together we become a perfect unique expression of Spirit as WE. I will always cherish the day we met and remember "The Night I Fell in Love". Happy D-Day My Love (Our Date with Destiny Day).
Only two and a half months since I've become a mommy and my baby girl has wasted no time and spared me no expense of testing my resolve for Motherhood. So far I've been sneezed on directly in my face on a pretty regular basis. I've also been spit up on several times, and experienced things that I NEVER imagined happening to me prior to becoming a mother...like being pee peed on.
But the absolute worst so far has been having her "poop" during the middle of a diaper change and it got on my hand. Ewww gross right!?! Yet I handled it well and didn't even freak out like I normally would in my pre-mommy days. Instead I just cleaned my hand off, finished changing her, washed my hands about 5 more times just for good measure, then kissed her and told her how much I love her.
So after going through all that, without walking out and leaving her with her Dad, I think I can safely say I have successfully passed by first round of new mommy initiation test. I believe I have been officially inducted into the wonderful world of "Motherhood".
Still, despite all the aforementioned gross things she has done to me, what I find the most joy and delight in thus far is sitting in my rocking chair with her snuggled securely in my arms with her head pressed against my chest. Quietly, I pray over her as she falls asleep to the comforting sound of my heartbeat.
My second favorite thing so far is standing over her crib each morning watching her with sheer enthusiasm and anticipation of her opening her eyes to the new day. As she awakes she looks up with sparkles of love in her beautiful precious little eyes. When she sees me there ready and waiting to greet her, she fills up the room with her smile like the sun lighting the world as it makes its daily ascension in the sky. Then together we start a new day of her giving me more joy than I've ever known and me bathing her in more love than I ever knew my heart could give.

The Lord by His wisdom created the earth; by His understanding He established the heavens. By His knowledge He caused the rivers to flow and the clouds drop down the dew.
Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom; and in all your getting get understanding."

I shared this scripture with you in the format of a poem because as I read various versions of it I noticed most bibles translated the word understanding as "insight". This means when we seek spiritual understanding we are really asking God to give us "spiritual insight".
So in addition to my creative way of conveying this "insightful" message from the book of Proverbs to you poetically, I've also included a video below to one of my favorite gospel songs, "Speak To My Heart", which re-enforces the message above. It is most popularly known by Donnie McClurkin. However, the version I've attached below is by R&B hit singer Faith Evans whom I think did an equally soul stirring rendition of the song.
As you absorb the words of both messages I pray you will do so with an open heart. By doing so may you receive the wisdom, insight, and spiritual understanding from God to direct your path in whatever situation you may be going through.

The the above scripture from the Book of Proverbs, used by the creator and author of this blog, is a combination of the following three different biblical translations: Lamsa's Aramaic Translation (Holy Bible Ancient Eastern Text), The Good News Bible (Today's English Version), and the Oxford King James Version Bible.
What many people fail to realize is that there is power in being non-resistant. If you’re not convinced of this truth then observe and take note of it from nature. When the gusty winds and storms come the trees do not resist. Rather, they remain flexible by bending and swaying gently with the flow of the raging winds of the storm allowing it to do its thing and pass on by. Then when the storm is over the strongest of the trees always survive and remain still standing.
Like wise, I encourage you to be like the trees. Practice the art and power of non-resistance. So that when the storms of life blow your way you too can maintain holding a calm, flexible attitude and posture. Remain grounded in your faith as you allow whatever storm in life you may be going through to do what it's come to do which is simply pass you by. Then see God bring you through it all like a strong tree still standing. After all, there is good that comes even in the mist of storms that usually show up as a lesson and/or blessing waiting for you just on the other side. ~ Peace Beloved
From the tomb of darkness inside my cocoon, I know my metamorphosis will be complete soon. I see a beam of light as I begin to break free, A major transformation is occurring within me.
Merely existing when my soul longs to live, experiencing so little of this thing called life, yet having so much within me to give.
With no idea where I'm going, I’m certain inside this cocoon I can no longer stay, So to my Holy creator I silently pray, As I prepare to step out on faith letting love lead the way, Trusting my Spirit guides will not lead me astray. Unsure of what the future holds Yet, certain I’ll be okay, No more inching through life as a green caterpillar, the time has come for me to see a new day.
For I deeply believe it’s my spiritual responsibility, to live up to my God given potentiality. So of my self imposed limitations I must break free, Then take this beautiful vision of myself from within, that so clearly I see… and make it my reality... As I become the version of me I was created to be.
Restless to the point I can no longer sleep and I know… It’s time to answer the call of my soul, that desperately yearns to grow. Yes, it’s time to spread my wings, and let my authentic self show. So I…soar to the sky following the rhythm of my unique flow, As I…feel the winds of change begin to blow Destiny is calling and won’t accept from me the answer, “no” So up, up and away I go!

For just a brief moment, I had a flash of intuition where I was able to see myself and my talents as God sees me and all that He has in store for me that’s yet to come. For just a brief moment, I saw me reaching my full potential the way God has always seen in me. After all, it is He who inspires and instilled in me this abundance of creative ability when I was just an idea in His Divine Mind even before I was conceived in my mother’s womb.
For just a brief moment, I was able to see a mere glimpse of Gods divine plan for my life and in that milla-second of a moment, I became so overwhelmed with joy and moved beyond words in my spirit. Then I received an intense current of energy that I knew with an amazing sense of certainty, was the Infinite Divine Holy presence of Spirit moving though me like a flash of lighting…
And all I could do or say in response to that precious, sacred, immensely profound yet very brief moment…was lift my hands in total praise with tear filled eyes of pure joy, deep gratitude and awe at what I saw. Then with a proclamation of great expectation and conviction in my heart and voice I opened my mouth and said….Thank you Most High God…For you NEVER CEASE to amaze me. Even in a brief moment like this of removing the veil from my eyes and allowing me to clearly see all that you created me to be! In the name and nature of Jesus the Christ...It is done! And So It Is!

Beyond the thoughts of uncertainty, doubt and all fears Beneath the unsettled emotions and frustrated tears Despite the still unanswered prayers after patiently waiting for years I feel the need to get quiet and go deep within... asking God to speak to my heart once again
So now I'm listening for that still small voice that's as clear as the sound of thunder yet soft as the wind ...the voice of wholeness...the voice of wisdom... the voice of peace...the voice of Zen
When I feel lost it is my inner compass that never leads me astray, never failing to lead me in the path of righteousness, in a clear and perfect way
So when the things of this world begin to push and shove yet clarity and direction are all I'm thinking of, it is the light that leads me down the path of truth... the light that leads me in the path of love.
I am exactly where I need to be I have now been made free I am walking hand in hand with God into the promise of my divine destiny
My affairs have been perfected by God, by His hands made whole and complete My blessings are flowing to me in streams of good and plenty and all obstacles have become obsolete
I do not have to chase after my blessings Nor can I be denied the good God has for me For His promise is to lead me beside the still waters where I receive my good effortlessly.
…Spirit has spoken!
