Sunday's Food For Thought:True Love Is Friendship On Fire

Most people are looking for or say they desire to be married to someone who is also their best friend. Well I actually have several people in my personal circle who have found and are married to someone with whom they share that kind of connection. And what I have come to learn from each of them, and my own life experiences too, is that you have to first become that which you desire to have.

In simpler terms, each of those married couples, in my family and friends circle, who also share the true love of their best friend, had to first learn to be a best friend to themselves before the universe attracted them into each others lives to become the best friend, lover, spouse and life partner to each other.

So while you're praying for...and waiting for...your true love to show up in the form of a best friend and marry you, practice the art of being a best friend to yourself first. Which means loving yourself enough to nurture and care for the needs of your own heart the way you're expecting and looking forward to your true love and life partner to do when they arrive.

Until next time...Remember to keep you heart open and your LOVE light on!

As You Lead Me Lord: Prayer of Faith

Dear God,

My eyes have not seen, my ears have not heard, and my heart cannot conceive the plans you have for me.

Yet I know undoubtedly, wherever you're leading me is good. Whatever you have for me I cannot be denied. All the days of my life I will unceasingly seek to know more of you. And whatever aligns with you're will for me is all I want to do.

A Better You...A Better Life

I hope no one gets offended by this post. But I saw this image and thought it completely resonates with my motto for this year.

You see, I have declared 2015 as my "Get Your **ish Together Year!" But that's not a New Year's Resolution. It's an "Unhappiness Solution!" What exactly does that mean? Well, let me explain.

It means as a child of the Most High God, who scripture tells me has promised me abundant life as long as I put Him first, which I do and have done since my childhood. I cannot and will not settle for less than I know in my heart I am here to Do....Be....Have.....Experience.....or Receive.

So what exactly do you mean by, "Abundant Life" you ask? Abundant life, to me means, Heaps of Happiness, Jubilant Joy, Pleasurable Peace, Plentiful Prosperity, Bountiful Blessings, Heavenly Health and a Wellspring of Wealth (in the form of unlimited supply which is not to be confused with being filthy rich).

This means, it is imperative to let go, move away from, separate or distance myself from any thoughts, emotions, beliefs, habits, behavior patterns, and yes....even People who are negatively affecting my ability to move to the next level of spiritual and personal growth and development.

It means, removing anything, thought or person that is dimming my light and suppressing my greatness from bursting forth and shining THROUGH ME.....AS ME.

It means, getting my affairs in order and taking that next big, VERY NECESSARY, leap of faith into my Divine Destiny and Greatest Potential to Be....Do....Have...Experience....the best version of me I can be.

Yes, I want better! I deserve better! It is my Divine Right to experience and have better! And 2015 is the year I am going after better with a heart of expectation and determination to receive better.

And I will no longer settle for less than the portion that's divinely mine. So help me God! In the name and NATURE of Jesus the Christ....And So It Is!!!

Now aren't you ready for YOUR better more abundant life too?

Until next time....I surround you in Love & Light! Sleep well and have a peaceful night!

Something to Tuck Under Pillow:The Love You Seek Starts Within

What I have come to learn about love is likened to what I have also learned about happiness. Everything you seek is not only seeking you too...it STARTS with you.

As adults we have all, at some point, experienced deep hurt and disappointment in our relationships with others. I'm sure we all have stories we can share where we have loved deeply and hard. Only to find the object of our affection did not see reciprocate the same level of love we gave. When this happens once or twice we find a way to recover. And in most cases we try at love again.

However, when we have repeatedly given our hearts fully and found our relationship experiences to be a reoccurring theme of disappointment we tend to develop a fear of loving again. When then close our hearts in order to protect ourselves. Yet in truth, the fear we feel is not really a fear of loving again. Rather,  it is a fear of being hurt again. But True Love doesn't hurt you...people do.

The fortress you have built around your heart to protect you is really a false sense of security. It not only blocks love, or anything else, from getting in. It also blocks love from getting out. This creates a self-imposed prison you now are living in that serves you no good and blocks you from all the wonderful blessings that TRUE LOVE can  bring.

And so it is that when you become truly ready and courageous enough to do the spiritual work within that is necessary to remove all the barriers around your heart you have built, your heart will naturally begin to open up to love again like a beautiful flower welcoming the falling rain.

When this natural process of healing happens, the Holy Spirit will answer your call to heal ALL your wounds from the past. As you become realigned with the vibrational energy of love again, Love will begin radiating from every fiber of your being. And as you allow genuine love to begin pouring forth again THROUGH you...you will also begin to see all that is in perfect alignment with genuine love attracting to you. It is the Law of the Universe in which we live that EVERYTHING you seek, including Love, starts within.

This is just a little "Something to Tuck Under Your Pillow" to ponder as you drift off to sleep tonight.

Until next time...I surround you in Love & Light! Sleep well and have a peaceful night!

Something to Tuck Under Your Pillow: Keeping the Dreamer in You Alive

Every dream begins with a dreamer. And everyone has a dream. Something you hold near and dear to your heart that you would like to see become a part of your reality experience in life. Yes, there's a bit of a dreamer in everyone that began in your early childhood years. And, contrary to popular opinion, every dreamer dreams big. It might not seem like it from another persons limited perspective of looking from the outside in. But everyone has a vision for their life that's meaningful to them. And from the dreamers point of view their dream is big.

Rather your dream is to someday be a devoted, loving wife and mother. Or you're a good man desiring to become happily mated and married with two kids and a dog. Perhaps your dream is to become the first in your family to graduate from college. It may seem mediocre to someone else. But in the heart of the person holding that vision for their life it is big. And no one has the right to judge you as not dreaming big enough.

You see, not everyone is called, or have a personal desire, to live a grandiose lifestyle among the rich and famous. But just because your dreams don't involve material wealth and affluence doesn't mean it is a dream of less importance or value than the person who does dream of having those things. Everyone measures happiness and success differently. And to the person who dreams of  being happily married with a white picket fenced house and a beautiful family of their own to fill it, that's happiness to them.

Or the person who dreams of returning to college and finally finishing that degree they never completed earlier in life, to them that's huge.  Or the person who dreams of having a life surrounded by trustworthy people who are true friends. People who really have your best interest at heart. To those people, seeing those dreams come true will give them personal fulfillment which is the true measure of happiness and success.

So never belittle another person's dreams. Never judge anther person's heart desires for their life as less significant, less important, less valuable than yours. Never devalue or reduce someone else's dream to being mediocre simply because it doesn't seem as "grand"  as the dreams, vision, and desires you may have for your life. Remember, everyone has dreams. And everyone dreams big. Because they dream of something that holds personal significance, value and importance to them.

More importantly, keep the dreamer in you alive. And never give up on your dreams no matter what anyone else's opinion of your dream is.  After all, just like beauty, the magnitude and value of a dream is always in the eye of the beholder. So dream on...and dream Big!!!

Until next time...I surround you in Love & light!

The Antidote to Fear

The only guaranteed failure
is being afraid to stumble and fall....
Stuck in stagnation,
no forward movement at all....

Paralyzed by over analyzed
intellectual stimulation...
Gripped by the stronghold
of procrastination....

Unable to see clearly the path
to your desired destination....
Sucked into the emotional vortex
 of frustration, irritation, and aggravation....

Ahhhh...then in steps Faith to the rescue....
The only surefire thing
that can help you....

Faith will lift the heavy clouds
of hopelessness and despair....
And show you the beauty and blessings
in life that were already there....

Faith liberates...
It shifts your conscious awareness,
causing your thoughts to elevate....
It is the quiet confidence
within that motivates....

Faith reminds you that despite your age
or circumstances it is NEVER too late....
To move forward toward your goals
and dreams in life
where you used to hesitate....

Faith reassures you
that with God on your side,
failure is NOT your fate...

You see, faith is the antidote
to overcoming fear....
It makes your doubts disappear,
and gives you strength to persevere....

It makes the bridge between
where you are and wanna be
suddenly appear....
Faith allows you to see the glorious
future that lies ahead of you,
shining bright and crystal clear.

Conquering the Critical Thinker in You

"When we speak from the ego, we will call up the ego in others. When we speak from the Holy Spirit we will call up their love." ~ Marianne Williamson, from her best-selling book, A Return to Love

Constant ridicule and criticism is a fatal enemy to love. It suffocates the life out of a relationship, preventing it from blossoming and reaching its full potential. It poisons the emotional trust in a relationship that love needs in order to grow. When you constantly criticize, judge or condemn yourself or another, mentally or verbally, you are not aligning with the higher consciousness of divine mind, the Spirit Self. Critical, judgmental, condemning thoughts and words are born and expressed from the ego-self, not from the heart where the Holy Spirit resides and divine love abides.

Our thoughts and words have the power to either build or destroy. When we consistently hold thoughts or speak words that are heavy latent with negative energy attached, as is the case with criticism, they gain a momentum that is hard to break. When the momentum of such negative chain of thoughts is not caught and stopped early on it develops into an unconscious, habitual, primary pattern of thinking. Such negative thoughts and words not only tear down the self-esteem of the person constantly subjected to it, over time it also tears down the foundation of the entire relationship. It prevents the ability for a genuine affinity and authentic bond to be developed. Criticism does not promote togetherness; it encourages separation.

It also negatively affects and infects your perception of people and situations in your life or that show up on your life path. When you are looking at life circumstances, and the people involved in them, through the tainted lens of the critical thinking mind your ability to clearly see the truth of a situation is severely hindered.

More importantly, your ability to see the light and love in another is blocked by the darkness of the ego projection that fuels the critical thinking inner voice. It is equally important to know that everything the critical inner voice has to say to you is a lie. Since this inner voice is aligned with ego its opinions are based on false perceptions that are relative unlike Truth that comes from the Holy Spirit which is absolute.

When you persistently criticize and judge another you send them the message that they are not worthy or deserving of love. You are in essence saying to them, "I refuse to accept you as you are. The way God created you is not good enough for me and I am unwilling to love you until you conform to my perception of who you should be. Until you become a version of yourself that is more appealing to my ego and behave in a manner my ego finds more acceptable, I reject you and deny you the blessing of my love."
Yet, who are we to ever say this, or even think such thoughts as this, toward another when God created us all in His image and likeness, which is perfect love. To suggest, through criticism and judgment, that God's divine design of yourself or another is flawed is both spiritual arrogance and spiritual ignorance. How can any of us assume ourselves empowered with the right to deny another the worthiness of love God has already approved us worthy of from the moment of our divine creation.

If God is love and formed us in His own image and likeness, which is also love, how can we ever be unworthy of that which we already are? Love is the essence of our innate being. We are worthy of love because, as children of God, we are love in physical expression.

When we learn to live and interact in our relationships, with self and others, centered in this higher consciousness of alignment, where our True Self, that is love resides, our expression of our own light comes forth. In doing so, we are then able to recognize, acknowledge and accept the God-light of love in others. It is from this spiritual perspective of enlightenment that we are able to realize our divine oneness with all humanity; rather than seeing ourselves and others through the darkness of the critical, judgmental, condemning ego perspective.

When we think and speak from the ego projected self we awaken the ego in others. However, when we align our thoughts and words with the higher consciousness of divine mind we radiate the light and love in ourselves and call forth the same in others to be mirrored back to us. So get rid of your Stinkin' Thinkin' by asking God to heal the critical mind in you. Begin "thinking a new thought" today and be transformed by the renewing of your critical thinking mind.

Until next time...I surround you in Love & Light!

Fear or the Fruit of the Spirit?:You Cannot Serve two Masters

In Mathew 6:24, Jesus said, " You cannot serve two masters. Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money."

Here are a few more examples besides money where I have found the overall point of this scripture to ring true:

1.) You cannot walk in faith and maintain a spirit of fear or hold onto fear thoughts at the same.

2.) You cannot trust God and worry or fret over the appearance of lack in any situation or circumstance that may show up in your life at the same time.

3.) You cannot demonstrate the spirit of power, love and sound mind in which God has given us and operate from a spirit of fear, which He has NOT given us, at the same time.

4.) You cannot remain stuck in stagnation and procrastination as a slave to fear of failure and expect to see progress or success of any kind at the same time.

5.) You cannot fear what man can do to you and trust God to uphold his promise to NEVER leave or forsake you at the same time.

In other words, fear and Love...fear and Faith...fear and Trust...fear and Power...fear and Courage...fear and Peace...fear in the face of anything that aligns with the fruit of the Spirit and your rightful inheritance as a child of the Most High (God) is like oil and water. They do not and will not mix.

Until next time...I surround you in Love & Light!

Do it with Love

1 Corinthians 13:4-7 tells us, "Love is Patient...Love is Kind..." When we hear this the first thing that most often comes to mind is romantic love. But I believe these two main components to expressing love applies to all of our relationships in every form they come. This includes, and is most importantly applied to, our relationship with self because it's impossible to give, extend or express to others what you have not yet learned to give, extend or express to yourself.

The catch-22 with this, very clear and seemingly simple, biblical definition of Love, is that it's impossible to be, or express one without being, and expressing the other. I have never seen an impatient person who is also kind. Nor have I ever met a kind person who at the same time lacked patience. In fact, I believe it is during the times we have an attitude of impatience that provokes the unkind behavior we express toward others the most.

Here are a few prime examples. When you are rushing through traffic, tailgating the cars in front of you, yelling or gesturing obscenities to the other drivers trying to make them speed up so you can  pass by because you feel they're driving the speed limit is moving too slow for you and hindering you from getting to your destination in the time frame you want...you are NOT being, extending or expressing patience and kindness. Thus, you are not in alignment with the expression of love.

If you find yourself hemming and hawing and making rude comments (even if under your breath or in your head) to the cashier while waiting in line at the store then you are NOT being, extending or expressing patience and kindness. Thus, you are not in alignment with the expression of love.

If you are the kind of person who often says, or is thinking as you read this, "Yeah... Yeah...Yeah...all that sounds great in a perfect world but I have things to do, places to go and people to see. So I don't have time for this patience, kindness and love frame of thinking.
I have to keep my day and my life moving forward. And people who don't move or do things at my pace are in my way and a hindrance to me getting what I need done." Then you my friend are not being, extending or expressing patience and kindness. Thus you are not in alignment with the expression of love.

The importance of being consciously aware of this is that when you are not expressing patience and kindness not only are you not expressing love...you are in essence not expressing the presence of God in you.

Now if you're thinking, "Alright, I get the the point about patience and kindness but why did you through God in the mix. What does being patient and kind have to do with God?"
My answer to that question is this. The Holy Scriptures tells us that patience and kindness is love and God is love. And if we are made in God's image and likeness then we embody the same characteristics that is of God such as patience and kindness. Therefore, God has everything to do with it.  "For we cannot love God, whom we have not seen, if we do not love others, whom we have seen." (1 John 4:20)

Spiritual Laws affect all of us rather one chooses to believe in them or not. And one very basic spiritual law is that what we give out is the measure in which we receive.  So it's safe to say, when you fail to express the characteristics of God, such as patience, kindness and love, then you are the one who is really the source responsible for hindering and holding back your progress and inevitably your own good.

Understand that thoughts are energy and when you maintain an attitude of impatience which provokes behavior that exudes unkindness, you are literally vibrating to the negative energy that's creating more of the very thing you don't want. The energy it takes to stay in that frame of thinking and emotional state is the very energy that is the block and separation between you and your good. As I mentioned in my opening statement, you cannot receive that which you have not yet learned to be, extend, express or give. And this principle applies to everything, on every level and every area of your life.

So the next time you're feeling anxious or frustrated resulting in you behaving aggressive and pushy, impatient, abrupt, unkind or just flat out mean, stop for a moment. Take a deep breath and practice the art and virtue of being patient which will lead to you also being kind. Then sit back and watch everything begin to suddenly fall into place. And not in your time but divine time which believe it or not is always perfect time.

The key to this, however, is not by using our external power in attempt to force what we want to happen. Nor does it unfold by our willfulness and determination to push things forward. Yes action is often necessary to achieve our goals but we live in a universe that's designed to support us not go against us.

Through patience and kindness we evoke another basic spiritual law called divine order that is only able to express itself when we stop trying to make things happen and allow things to happen by letting go, letting God, and aligning ourselves with Love . It's not just a cliche. Love really does have the power to heal, correct, transform, and attract to you every good thing that's divinely yours to receive. And not just your good but the highest good of all involved.

Until next time...I surround you in Love & light!

A Time to Love

To everything there is a season,
a time for every purpose under the sun.
There's a time to face the challenges of adversities,
and a time to celebrate great
victory’s we have won.

There’s a time when countries go to war,
and a time for all wars to cease.
There's a time to let go...a time to let God,
a time to know when to surrender and release.
Yet, now is the time to start resolving
our differences in a way that brings
 all humanity peace.

Although life as we have known is changing,
God’s will for us to have a good life is not yet done.
Just as nature regenerates itself after winter
when spring comes,
the season of new beginnings for us
 has just begun.

We have gone through fire, water,
snow storms and earthquakes
that caused the earth to tremble and shake.
Even a major reconstruction of our economic system,
as a country we have had to face.
Yet, I am convinced that regardless of what may appear,
now is the time and this is the year
to see God bring us out into a comfortable place.

Now is the time for us to come together,
with one vision…as one nation.
Divided no more by different race, creed or
 views of religion,
Let's come together as one...
For we are all God’s creation.

Every good and perfect gift comes
from our Father above…
And there’s no better time than now to
give one another His greatest gift of all
...the perfect gift of love.

I originally wrote this poem back in 2010 inspired by all the catastrophic events and major economic and societal changes that unfolded at the time causing much fear, anxiety, doubt and hopelessness here in the U.S and around the world.

I thought February being the month of Love was a good time to share this revised shorter version with you. However, as an added bonus, that I also perceive as divine confirmation, I just discovered, that two of my favorite music artist collaborated on a song that reinforces the message of my poem. Stevie Wonder has an album with the same title as my poem, A Time to Love, and the single features the lovely and talented India Arie.

After listening to this version with the lyrics also posted in the video I thought it was the perfect compliment to my poem and wanted to share it as part of my Inspirational Love Note for you today. That said, please enjoy the music video attached of this beautifully written and performed song by Stevie Wonder featuring India Arie, sharing the same title as my poem, A Time to Love.

The Day After Valentine's Day: Where is the Love?

So Valentine's Day has now come and gone. Everyone is done running around for last minute gifts to give to their beloved. The stores have already moved on to promoting the next major holiday they can commercialize and bring in the most profit from.  So what happens now to all those high vibrations of love that so heavily saturated the air just yesterday intoxicating us with every breath we took in and exhaled?

Did all those "good vibrations" expire on Valentines Day at midnight and just evaporate like the carriage that turned back into a pumpkin in the Cinderella fairytale? I most certainly hope not.

I admit, I too am a supporter of celebrating Valentine's Day simply because it is a day we set aside to honor the greatest and most powerful force in the entire universe. Also, because God is love and we are made in His image and likeness. Thus, the true essence of our being is love. For this very reason I believe our thoughts, hearts and actions should not be limited to being open to conscious vibrations and expressions of love for only two days a year...Christmas and Valentine's Day.

Everyday should be looked upon with the same positive attitude and patience, generous acts of kindness and an open heart of compassion that we do on the day we have set aside as a society to honor and celebrate love called...St.Valentine's Day.

In truth, everyday is a perfect day to celebrate and honor love. Why? Because everyday you are blessed to awake of sound mind and able body is another opportunity to express the love that God is, expressing in and through us all. So just because Valentine's Day is over do not let your efforts and actions to express love to yourself and other's be over and done as well.

Let us remember the characteristics of love as defined in the attached image quoted from
1 Corinthians 13:4-8. Love has many attributes but of them all let us make a more conscious effort to remember at least these few most important ones...Love is patient...love is kind...love is not rude...love is not easily angered...love keeps no record of wrongs. More simply stated, above all else, love is... patient, thoughtful, compassionate and considerate of others, respectful, and forgiving.

Now that Valentine's Day is over you may have  been thinking all the loving vibrations in the air are gone and unconsciously closed your heart and mind to expressing love. Instead, remain consciously open and aware of the love that is always readily available to you as the divine love in you waiting to be expressed through you in the unique way God created only you to be.

Until next time...I surround you in Love & light! So remember to keep your heart open and your love light shinning bright.

Ten Ways to Love

My Inspirational Love Note message for you today is the attached list of ten ways to love that include scriptures from the bible that align with and support each point and suggestion. Review each one carefully. Then share it....save it....study the scriptures given with it...and above all else begin to put into practice the wisdom of each profound message on this list.

Begin to consciously make an effort to adopt this string of wisdom pearls into your attitude and behavior in your most intimate and important relationships. As you do you are guaranteed to see your love begin to grow and thrive not just barely survive.

Why do I feel this list is so full proof? It is because of two things I have tried and seen proven true. That is, as with any plan or idea, it only works if you work it...i.e. put it into consistent practice with patience and stay with it long enough to see results begin to manifest. Secondly, and most importantly, I believe as holy scripture tell us and have seen many times for my self in my own life experiences that Love never fails.

People fail when they choose to give up on love but love never gives up on you because love is God and God is the one constant in this ever changing world. And here are ten ways to do your love test, draw your own love conclusion, and receive your own proof of all the aforementioned about love being true.

Until next time...I surround you in Love & light! So always keep your heart open and your love light shining bright.

February: 28 Days of Celebrating and Honoring Love

At my place of spiritual worship and church home, Hillside International Chapel & Truth Center, in Atlanta, Georgia, we celebrate every month by honoring and recognizing one of the twelve Spiritual faculties that we each embody as spiritual beings having a human experiences in the physical body. Yet, while living in the physical world on this human journey we are in Truth, and in essence, still children of the Most High God made in His image and likeness which is ultimately....Love

As beacons of light and vessels of love what better time of year to celebrate, honor and remember our true essence, and the highest power and energy in the universe, than February, the month of love. This is also the same reason and purpose I created and named this blog Inspirational Love Notes

That being said, all of my Inspirational Love Note messages to you this month will be focused on celebrating and honoring our love as always. However, I'll be turning up the love light notch to just a little bit higher vibration than usual all this month to ensure that you really feel it and hopefully inspire you to raise the love light vibration in your heart this month as well.

I'd like to begin by sharing the following quote from today's message from my church homes monthly publication booklet of spiritually based inspiring messages called, The Daily Thoughts from the Hill.

"The more we delve into the spiritual idea that all of life is connected and birthed of the same spiritual substance, the easier it will be to see our relationships as spiritual practice-even the challenging ones. Our relationships are perfect mirrors for us to see ourselves. They show us where we need to grow, where we are holding judgment, where we have forgiven, and where we have not. Everyone in our lives is there for a divine purpose."

So as we kick off celebrating the month of love, now four days in, let us also use this month to take a good look in the mirror...the mirror of our closest, most intimate relationships, including and especially our most important relationship of all...our relationship with self.

As you look in that mirror allow yourself to see and accept the truth that is being reflected back at you through that relationship with your spouse, romantic partner, significant other, or mate and the relationships you have with close friends, family and co-workers as well.

They all have some kind of important and essential message or lesson they bring for your personal and spiritual growth. And while some of them may be challenging to be a part of, they are on your life path to help you learn, realize or change some aspect about how you perceive, approach or respond to life and love. So as as you look in that mirror look with compassion and know that it's not one sided because you are on their life path to contribute to their personal and spiritual growth and development as well.

Don't be afraid. Go look in that relationship mirror before this day is done with an open heart and non-judgmental mind. You might be surprised to discover just how long love has been trying to get your attention through that particular relationship. Likewise, you might be equally surprised to realize what life and love has been using your most challenging relationships to try to tell you or get you to see something very important about yourself and your own perception of love

Until next time...I surround you in LOVE & light! So remember to always keep your heart open and let your love light shine bright.

And this weeks celebrity in the Love Light Spot Light, is R&B singer and Aquarius, Anita Baker.

Born Anita Denise Baker, January 26, 1958 in Toledo, Ohio, she was given up at the age of two by her teenage mother to live and be raised by a foster family in Detroit, Michigan. At the age of twelve her foster parents died and she was raised by her foster sister until adulthood. She began singing at the age of sixteen at various Detroit night clubs where she was discovered by bandleader, David Washington, who invited her to audition for the funk band, Chapter 8.

In 1975 she joined the group Chapter 8 and toured with them as their lead singer. In 1979 the group signed a record deal with Ariola Records and recorded their first album, Chapter 8  featuring singles like, "Ready for Your Love" and the more popular classic single from the group with Anita as lead singer, "I Just Want to Be Your Girl". That same year Ariola was bought out by Arista Records and both Anita and the group she was a part of, Chapter 8, were dropped from the label.

But as fate would have it, Anita received a call in 1982 from a former associate of Ariola Records, Otis Smith, and convinced her to sign to his Beverly Glen label and her solo career as we know her for today was born with the release of her debut album, The Songstress, which produced classic singles from it like, "No More Tears", "You're the Best Thing Yet", and one of her most popular songs yet still today, "Angel".

Since then Anita has put out numerous albums with chart breaking hit singles that are timeless classics likes, "Caught Up in the Rapture, "Sweet Love", "You Bring Me Joy" from her second album, Rapture in 1986. And the classic hits kept coming with her follow-up third album, Giving You the Best That I Got, which included classics like, "Just Because", Fairy Tales, and the title track that's still heavily requested at urban weddings all over today, "Giving You the Best That I Got".

The list of timeless classic hits by Anita Baker continue on long and strong well into the new millennium even after taking a long hiatus from 1996 to the early 2ooo's to raise her two sons. More recently, Baker returned to the spotlight with the release of her recorded version of Tyrese's hit, "Lately" in August of 2012. She not only made national headlines with the release of the song she made history with it as well. The single was played in heavy rotation every hour on the hour on urban contemporary stations across the country making Anita Baker the first artist to ever make a song debut of this kind.

Anita Baker...A classy Lady, a Living Legend, and a Songstress of Love who's body of musical work will remain timeless classics for generations to come.

Fun facts fans may not know about Anita Baker:

Did you know Anita Baker's singing career almost didn't happen? When the 70's group, Chapter 8, she began her professional singing career in and sang lead for was dropped from Arista Records in 1979, the label told Anita she didn't have a "star quality" singing voice. So she returned to Detroit and became a waitress and law firm secretary. Can you believe that? The world was almost deprived of her gift that is clearly a God infused talent.

Anita Baker is also an eight time Grammy winner from seventeen nominations, four American Music Awards from nine nominations, and seven Soul Train Awards from twelve nominations.

Anita also received a Hollywood Walk of Fame Star in 1994. And she won the 2005 Artist of the Year at the Canadian Smooth Jazz Awards.

Now here's Anita Baker with this weeks Love Light Spotlight song, "Lead Me Into Love"one of my favorites by her, from her third album released in 1988, Giving You the Best That I Got.

Until next time...I surround you in LOVE & light! So remember to always keep your heart open and your love light shining bright.
